Knowledge sharing and team gathering

This week two of our INS+ consultants have visited our office in Bergen. Yevheniy Savchenko and Ihor Bielykh, developers from Itera, have traveled from Ukraine and Slovakia. They have already been part of the INS+ team for a few years. We love these opportunities to meet in person, both for knowledge sharing and social fun.

Another important topic for their visit, is that Yevheniy will take over the role as Team lead for the INS+ developers after Arvid Haugen. Arvid will continue as Tech lead and has new responsibilities within Instech. The main focus this week have therefore been the handover of tasks and responsibilities between them.

As Yevheniy take on the role as INS+ new Team Lead I also took the opportunity to ask him some questions about his job and new role.

How long has you worked as a consultant for Instech?  In august it is 5 year.
You enjoy it? Yes, the team and people in Instech are friendly, the tasks are interesting and various. We also get to implement new features, not just bug fixes. Also having contact with users and the possibility to understand them better.

Are you exited for your new role as team lead? Yes, I have had similar responsibilities in previous jobs. And I’m exited to learn new things and have new responsibilities.

What skill do you think is important for a team lead to have? Both technical skills and soft skills. You must understand the tasks and the technical and also be able to communicate with the team and users.

What do you like most about your job? The possibility to create solutions, and understanding of what you do. I can decide how to solve an issue and also influence my own workday.

How is it working remotely from Ukraine? I’m used to working remotely, and it’s easy to have meetings and talk to people online. So it doesn’t make a difference to the work I’m doing. But I prefer to be in the office. So I really enjoy this opportunity to visit you here in Bergen.
In Ukraine I’m living in the western part, where it is safe for now.

What do you like to do in your free time/ when you are not working? Sport, downhill skiing, travelling, reading books.

If you could pick any superpower, what would it be and why? To heal people.

Good luck in your new role!

The most important conclusion from this week is that there will be another round of shuffleboard next time they are in town.
